We support our Scottish Health Walk Network in a number of different ways to help them manage successful Health Walks in their local areas. Our support for the network includes offering funding, training opportunities, resources and a chance to network with and learn from other Health Walk projects.
As our members are geographically spread across the country, we created a virtually community, using the communications platform Slack, for our members to receive support from our staff as well as share knowledge and ideas with one another.
On the virtual community, we host regular Network Chats where we invite all the members to join us for a detailed discussion on a number of topics.
Network Chat topics have included everything from tips on marketing Health Walks to ideas on how to recruit volunteers to lessons on how to use our evaluation tools like our Walkers Database.
In recent months, the chats have been an invaluable way for Health Walk projects to keep up-to-date with the latest Scottish Government and Paths for All guidance related to restarting Health Walks post lockdown.
The chats have become a support network for the members, where they are able to share any concerns as well as share success stories from their areas to inspire others.
Feedback on our Network Chat sessions has been extremely positive, with members commenting how this extra support and opportunity to chat has been vital especially during recent months.
If you’re a member of the Scottish Health Walk Network and would like to join our virtual network then please get in touch with your Development Officer who will be delighted to welcome you.
